Developing the capacity for emotional relationship in human digital assistants is essential if we want them to achieve the trust of users. But how can we develop this ability in digital humans with artificial intelligence? Is that possible? The answer is yes, digital humans must go beyond the mere functional aspect, question-answer, in their H2M relationship incorporating the capacity for emotional connection. Three aspects allow attendees to conquer emotional connection, empathy and trust.

1. Positive connection. Connecting positively in the first moments with the user is essential, if the first impression is negative, communication is interrupted. Ahem: if a user calls to claim that their order has not arrived, the assistant can NOT receive them with a cheerful: “- Hello again, I’m glad to see you again !!!”. This attitude breaks any possibility of empathy with the user and communication.

2. Structured messages. Humans understand and assimilate messages much better with a clear structure. Example: if I ask about the bird offers for tomorrow Madrid-Barcelona, ​​it is NOT about giving me an unmanageable list of options, but helping me to structure them. “Do you prefer in the morning or in the afternoon?”

3. Synchronous non-verbal language. Non-verbal language represents 80% of communication, that is, the harmony between what we say and facial and body expression are essential to generate trust and influence. Example: If you ask for a recommendation of an Asian restaurant in Barcelona, ​​it is NOT useful to tell me with a neutral tone and flat facial expression: “there is one with a score of 4.5 in the Port Olimpic”, since it is mere information without emotional intention. Instead: “- (with a facial expression of enthusiasm) There is one that fascinates me !! It is one of my favorites in Barcelona, ​​it is in the Port Olimpic and it has a score of 4.5.

Today the great step for virtual assistants is to move from mere robotic information, a functional aspect, to becoming true influential communicators who connect with users emotionally and gain their trust and complicity.
